Mack Trucks in NYC

July 19, 2016
New York has always been a city synonymous with grit, determination and hard work. An embodiment of the American spirit, New York has long served as the gateway to the United States and a beacon of hope and aspiration to multitudes of immigrants. Home to a metropolitan area population of more than 20 million people, New York City is one of the most well-known cities in the world. Perhaps that is why it comes as no surprise that an iconic American brand like Mack got its start on those very same streets of New York - In 1900 - on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, to be exact. Like NY itself, the Mack brothers embodied the pioneering spirit of the city in which they lived when they introduced their first motorized vehicle, a bus that transported sightseers around Prospect Park. From there, Mack trucks would play an integral role in shaping the history of the city. From the construction of the NYC Subway, the Empire State Building and Yankee Stadium to the support of the efforts to rebuild a city and a nation after the devastation of 9/11 to the everyday, behind-the-scenes efforts of nearly 4,000 Mack trucks working on the streets in service to the NYC Department of Sanitation. Mack’s production facilities may have moved out of NY in 1905, but Mack was born in New York City, continues to serve an important role in the ongoing growth of the city, and will always be helping to guarantee that New York stays one of the greatest cities in the world.
